CoRD was a Mac OS X remote desktop client for Microsoft Windows computers using the RDP protocol. It's easy to use, fast, and free for anyone to use or modify.

  1. Use Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac to connect to a remote PC or virtual apps and desktops made available by your admin. With Microsoft Remote Desktop, you can be productive no matter where you are. GET STARTED Configure your PC for remote access using the information at https://aka.ms/rdsetup.
  2. Im running Mac OS X Yosemite and just upgraded to Win10. I used to use the Remote Desktop Connection App but after the upgrade to Win10, I couldnt connect from my Mac. I installed Microsoft Remote Desktop and now I can connect to my Win 10 machine with no issues. Thanks for the quick fix!
  3. Having a similar issue. I can connect to VPN, but not to my workstation, using Mac with El Capitan, but had issue with Yosemite, as well. Workstation is Windows 7. I was able to connect using the same laptop, with Windows 7, via Bootcamp. I can also connect with my iPhone, just not the Mac. Any tips would help. Will create new thread if.

2020-04-13: This project is defunct. Most people will be happy with Microsoft's clients. There's also an excellent free and open source project called FreeRDP that has great protocol support for multiple platforms. A sincere thanks to everyone who used CoRD over the years, reported bugs, donated, or contributed code - Dorian

Macs interact well with Windows, and with CoRD the experience is a bit smoother. Great for working on the office terminal server, administrating servers or any other time you'd like your PC to be a bit closer without leaving your Mac. CoRD allows you to view each session in its own window, or save space with all sessions in one window. Scale session windows to whatever size fits you—the screen is resized automatically. Enter full screen mode and feel like you're actually at the computer. The clipboard is automatically synchronized between CoRD and the server. For system administrators, CoRD creates a simpler workflow by allowing you to save server information, then quickly connect to that server by using HotKeys or the server drawer. This makes quickly connecting to a specific server easy, even when managing many servers.

As an alternative, you can try the open source CoRD which is lighter and allows several concurrent connections (unlike Microsoft's client last I checked)

Microsoft RDC does allow multiple connections -- to different computers or even to the same computer (Terminal Server) with different user account. This feature has been available for many years.

I was going to suggest CoRD as well.
Even though officially still in beta, this application is miles better that the Microsoft version which is arguably one of the worst pieces of Mac software ever created.
If you don't believe me, try starting it up and opening a previously saved connection settings file, editing a few of the settings and then logging in with those saved settings.
This cannot be done without quitting and restarting RDC at least once.

I would also recommend CoRD. Why waste time trimming the bloat from another application when CoRD comes bloat free out of the box?

I downloaded this yesterday, tried to do this today. Stream xbox to mac. The package, Office2011_en_rdc.pkg, is not part of the download.

Where is mac tools made. I've been using the Microsoft RDC that you can download from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/mac/remote-desktop-client

As a web application developer I have to connect to Windows servers a lot. This lets me connect to multiple servers at a time, lets me save profiles per server and per login type. I am curious to know if the RDC that comes with Office is different than the one you can just download from MS? Anyone know?

As the hint says, Office2011_en_rdc.pkg is located inside of RDC Installer.pkg. Right click on RDC Installer.pkg in the dmg you downloaded and choose 'Show Package Contents.' As far as I know, it's the same RDC included with MS office. You can save shortcuts for each server/user configuration you want; I keep mine in a folder on the dock for easy access. You might want to look into the free CoRD application mentioned by some other commenters, as it has a 'library' approach to the organization of such profiles.

It requires *part* of that file. If you run the default installer, you get a bunch of extra bloat added to your system. Read the hint for more details.

ok, thanks, I get it now. however, it's not clear to me how to remove the 'bloat' once you already installed RDC the classical way.
anyway the autoupdater seems to run only while the RDC is running and I have not seen any 'annoying popups' yet. the dock app seems to be relevant only during install process. not sure about the MERP apps, but they did not show up in the process list on my system.
